BMW E30 323i 1983 – Early Model – Rare Classic – WhiteReluctantly for sale is my 1983 BMW E30 323i. This is one of the earliest E30 models and being a 323i makes it a very rare and desirable car.
Finished in white, the car remains very original and has been cared for throughout its life. It is fitted with recently refurbished 15-inch genuine BBS wheels with new Nankang 205/55/15 tyres purchased from Demon Tweeks. One centre cap is missing and the current centre caps are 3D printed replicas. I also have the original “bottle top” wheels available, depending on the asking price, or they can be swapped back over if preferred.
The car is tax and MOT exempt and costs around £100 per year to insure.
It has had a lot of work carried out over the years, including:
- Tuned by High Tech in Kidderminster- Head gasket and cambelt replaced- E36 injectors fitted- Inlet manifold and rocker cover powder coated (now showing some signs of age)
For a car that is over 40 years old, it drives extremely well and you really wouldn’t believe its age. It is a genuine usable classic that can be enjoyed rather than just stored away.
As with any 40+ year old car, it does have some age-related marks:
- Some paint scabs and imperfections- Two new front wings fitted previously- Driver’s window can be slow going up sometimes and may need a helping hand- Sunroof can be slow at times (I keep an Allen key in the glovebox for this)- Central locking all works
It can idle slightly lumpy on initial start-up but settles and drives fine afterwards. There is a slight wobble through the steering which may be related to front suspension/steering components and would be worth checking.
This is not a concours show car, but it is a very solid, honest, early E30 with a great specification and history. Cars like this are becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially in 323i form.
It genuinely pains me to sell it, but I have lost my storage and cannot leave it sitting outside. I also don’t have the time or funds to take it to the next level, so it’s time for it to go to someone who can enjoy and preserve it.
