1988 Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 2 Mk4 – 77,000 Miles – Rebuilt Engine – Restoration Project comes with loads of paperwork.

It is with genuine regret that I am offering my 1988 Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 2 for sale.

I have owned the car for approximately four years. It was purchased in pieces and has been a long-term personal project and a real labour of love. A considerable amount of time, effort and money has gone into rebuilding it.

The car has covered approximately 77,000 miles and has not been on the road for around 16 years. It now starts, runs and drives, but it still requires finishing before it can be returned to the road, few bits on the paintwork but nothing major.

Work completed includes:

• Rebuilt engine
• Reconditioned turbo by Essex Turbo
• New clutch
• New fuel tank
• Reconditioned fuel sender/meter unit by Grey Goose
• New fuel pipes
• Brakes replaced all round
• New floors and one sill so no chassis number on floor, I have the orginal numbers and all match.
  
• Electrical system sorted
• Reconditioned sunroof
• Sunroof operates and tilts correctly
• New headlining
• New wheels and tyres
• New front windscreen

The car remains largely original and has not been turned into a heavily modified example. These genuine Series 2 RS Turbos are becoming increasingly difficult to find, especially cars retaining their original character, it takes a few goes to start but its all good once running,

Please understand that this is still a project and will need further work and finishing. I strongly recommend viewing the car in person before bidding or making an offer. Buyers should satisfy themselves regarding its condition and the remaining work required.

This has been my personal project, and I am genuinely unhappy about selling it. Unfortunately, after four years and a very long journey bringing it back from boxes of parts to a running and driving car, I simply cannot continue with it.

It deserves to go to an enthusiast who understands these cars and can complete the restoration properly.
