1986 Mazda 323 GTX Turbo 4WD

An exceptionally rare piece of 1980s Japanese rally history, powered by the 1.6-litre DOHC turbo engine with four-wheel drive. These Group A-era cars are now extremely difficult to find in the UK.

Owned by me for several years and supplied with stacks of paperwork, including the original service book. I believe the turbo was rebuilt previously and it may be producing around 160 bhp, although this isn’t documented.

Recently serviced with:

• Engine oil and filter
• Spark plugs and ignition leads
• Coolant flush
• Gearbox oil

It also has a fresh 12-month MOT. The previous MOT recorded sill corrosion; the sills were subsequently cleaned and wax-oiled before passing. Replacement sill panels are included for future use.

As expected for a 40-year-old unrestored car, it has some rust bubbles, scratches and paint flaking. The sunroof requires attention and the headlining is currently removed, but all parts are present.

Also included are spare clutch and various service parts. Any inspection is welcome, and a local ramp inspection can be arranged for £20 at the buyer’s cost.

A genuinely rare and usable 1980s turbocharged 4WD Japanese classic with great potential.
