THE LISTING
About this vehicle
Genuine Mk1 Ford Focus RS – 85,630 miles – £18,000 ONOGenuine Mk1 Focus RS, privately owned by a mature enthusiast and used sparingly over the last few years. I've only covered around 650 miles during my ownership, mainly using it for occasional car shows, weekends and family outings (retrofitted ISOFIX).
The car remains largely standard, with only an aftermarket exhaust and recirculating turbo valve fitted.
BODYWORKThe known problem areas for rust have been properly addressed.
In 2024, both sills were professionally replaced using genuine Ford panels, while both rear arches were replaced using pressed steel replacement panels. The bottom sections of the front arches were also replaced using Karl Edwards panels.
The car then had professional preparation and paintwork carried out.
The bodywork now presents very well for its age and mileage, particularly given the known rust areas have been addressed.
It is important to say that this is not a concours or freshly restored car. There are inevitably some age-related marks and signs of wear, particularly to the interior and trim, but overall it is an honest and well-presented 23-year-old car.
HISTORY & DOCUMENTATION
The car has an excellent service history, with 19 stamps in the original service books, along with a large collection of invoices, service records and supporting paperwork.
The car is HPI clear, with all previous MOT certificates/records present.
It also comes with the original RS wallet, paperwork, memorabilia and supplements. It has two keys. Both can lock/unlock the car using the fob buttons, although the spare key is currently a blank and would need cutting.
MOT HISTORYEvery MOT test certificate is present and correct in the history folder. For the most part, the MOT history is straightforward and uneventful, with the exception of one MOT in 2019 which recorded a number of failures and advisories. This was before I owned the car.
The items highlighted on that MOT were subsequently addressed, and I have invoices and supporting documentation for the remedial work carried out. Since then, the car has also had a significant amount of additional work carried out, with numerous components replaced or repaired over the years.
I've retained a large amount of supporting paperwork, invoices and service records, providing good documentation of the work carried out throughout the car's history.
A FEW POINTS TO BE AWARE OFThe car is currently without an MOT, having been kept in storage for the last few years.
It is booked in at the end of September for MOT, a service and timing belt and pulley replacement. The timing belt was previously replaced at 73,428 miles.
There is also currently a knock from the front right of the car which I haven't yet had diagnosed. I suspect it may be a worn bush or possibly an engine mount, and I will have this investigated while the car is in for its service. I will update the advert with the findings and any work carried out.
I am also open to a sensible deal for anyone who would prefer to purchase the car as it stands, before it goes into the garage. This would obviously be reflected in the agreed price.
REASON FOR SALEWith a young family, house renovations and increasingly little opportunity to use the car, I've decided it is time for it to go to someone who will get more enjoyment out of it than I currently do.
It has been kept in storage for the last few years rather than being used regularly. If I were keeping it, the next job I'd probably be looking at would be an underbody restoration, but knowing me it would then end up spending even more time as an ornament!
The Mk1 RS is now firmly regarded as a modern classic, and genuine, well-documented examples are becoming increasingly difficult to find.
I'm happy to be completely open about the car's condition and would encourage anyone interested to come and view it in person. I'm also happy to provide additional pictures or videos on request, or arrange a video call if there is anything specific you'd like to see before making the journey to view the car.
85,630 genuine documented miles | 19 service stamps | Genuine Ford sill replacements | Pressed-steel rear arch replacements | Karl Edwards front arch panels | Excellent history and paperwork
Viewing welcome and highly recommended (DL5).
