THE LISTING
About this vehicle
1991 RENAULT 19 16V 3 DOOR – RARE MODERN CLASSIC – EXTENSIVE HISTORY
£8,500
Here we have a very attractive and increasingly rare 1991 Renault 19 1.8 16V 3 Door, finished in metallic grey with a black leather interior and retaining the distinctive period appearance that made these such an interesting alternative to the more obvious hot hatches of the early 1990s.
Powered by Renault's 1.8-litre 16-valve petrol engine and paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, the 19 16V was one of Renault's performance models of the era and good surviving examples are now becoming particularly difficult to find.
This example has covered 100,375 miles, has had just 3 former keepers, comes with 2 keys and is accompanied by an extensive history file.
The car will also be supplied with a fresh 12-month MOT for its new owner.
RECENT WORK
As part of preparing the car for sale, it has recently benefited from:
• Original 15-inch Speedline turbine alloy wheels refurbished
• New tyres fitted
• Front brakes replaced at the same time
The freshly refurbished wheels and new tyres really finish the car off and retain the correct period appearance.
HISTORY & PAPERWORK
One of the particularly appealing aspects of this Renault is the amount of historical paperwork that has remained with the car.
It comes with its original book pack, including a service/history book containing 16 entries, together with numerous previous invoices, maintenance records and old MOT certificates.
The paperwork provides a useful record of the car's life and mileage over many years, with historical maintenance covering items including brakes, cooling-system components, exhaust components, wheel bearings and routine servicing.
More recently, there is an invoice from 2022 for over £1,100, covering a substantial amount of mechanical work including the timing belt and water pump, together with brake and service-related work.
For an increasingly rare performance car of this age, having this level of accompanying paperwork is a real bonus.
All of the history and paperwork shown in the photographs will accompany the car.
EXTERIOR
The car presents extremely well in its metallic grey finish and has all the visual ingredients that make the Phase 1 16V such a recognisable early-'90s performance Renault.
These include the distinctive bonnet vent, deeper 16V bumpers and body styling, side skirts, rear spoiler and yellow front fog lamps.
The original 15-inch Speedline turbine alloy wheels have recently been refurbished and fitted with new tyres, which has made a considerable difference to the overall presentation of the car.
As with any vehicle of this age, it should not be expected to be completely free from age-related marks or imperfections, so please study the extensive photographs carefully.
INTERIOR
Inside is the desirable black leather sports interior, which suits the metallic grey exterior particularly well.
The heavily bolstered front sports seats and matching rear seats give the cabin a proper period performance-car feel, while the dashboard retains its wonderfully early-'90s Renault appearance.
The car retains its three-spoke Renault sports steering wheel, original-style instrumentation and 5-speed manual gearbox.
The leather presents very well overall for its age, although there is some expected age-related creasing and wear, particularly around the driver's seat bolster, which can be seen in the photographs.
The car is also equipped with a sunroof and electric windows.
CONDITION
Overall, this is a very presentable surviving example of what has become a genuinely uncommon Renault.
It is, however, a 35-year-old used vehicle rather than a new or concours car, and we are describing it accordingly.
Please study all of the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description and show the condition of the bodywork, interior, engine bay, wheels and trim in detail.
Viewing is welcomed and strongly encouraged before purchase so prospective buyers can inspect the car for themselves and satisfy themselves fully as to its condition.
