At the heart of it is BMW M’s 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V10, producing 507 bhp and 520 Nm through the seven-speed SMG III gearbox. It is the engine that defines the car. Smooth and restrained at low revs, then completely different as it climbs towards 8,250 rpm. The harder you work it, the more alive it becomes. The SMG is part of the character too.
