Hello,
For sale is my Vauxhall Viva HB GT. It has fitted a 3.5 Rover V8 and a 5 speed gearbox. The car is used on every other weekend.
The car was converted to a V8 many years ago. An old V5 from 1989 shows the 3.5-litre engine, and the current V5 also shows the engine size and historic status. It starts, runs and drives and is a lot of fun to use, with plenty of V8 character in a lightweight classic.
It has a disk brakes on the front and the Servo is tucked under the dash in the passenger foot well. Also the front grill is a Viva HB Export Model only grill, with the centre modified
Over the past 4- 5 years it has had a substantial amount of money spent on it. The engine was completely stripped and rebuilt approximately 2–3 years ago and has covered only around 2,500 miles since. I have gone through the invoices and the engine rebuild alone came to £6,774.50. The rebuild included skimming the block/heads, oversized pistons raising the compression and with most internal components being renewed where required.
Recent work within past 4 years carried out includes:
- Full engine rebuild (£6,774.50 in invoices)
- New clutch kit fitted September 2025
- Front gearbox seals/gaskets replaced
- Rear gearbox seal replaced
- Gearbox oil changed
- Gearbox speedo gear changed
- New front brake calipers
- New brake hoses
- New brake servo
- Rear axle oil changed
- New front and rear windscreen rubbers imported from Australia
- New steering shaft bearings
- New tyres fitted approximately 3 years ago, with less than 2,000 miles covered since fitting
- New stiffened rear springs (bit too stiff for bumps)
- Pair of rear Spax dampers
- Square Facet Red fuel pump
- New bootlid rubber fitted
- New engine mounts
- Four into 1 Stainless Block hugger manifolds
In the engine bay the following new parts have been fitted in past 4 years:
- Edelbrock 1404 carb
- Moroso airfilter
- Edelbrock inlet manifold
- RPI Engineering complete ignition kit
- Filter King fuel Pressure regulator
- Stainless 4 branch block huggers (i paid someone to slightly alter them to fit around the subframe)
- Rocker cover adapter plates and chevy finned rocker covers
- 3 core aluminium radiator
- Electric rad fans
The car currently has a 3.72 ratio axle fitted, but for cruising you'd ideally want to fit the spare axle which is 3.44 and comes with the car
I had the underside of the car waxoiled.
The jobs required to the car, to the best of my knowledge, include the following, but this list may not be exhaustive:
It comes with a large amount of invoices/paperwork showing approximately £11,500 spent, including the engine build, within the past 4–5 years.
This is no perfect car and i have used every other weekend. It has plenty of pull for the age of the car and keeps up with modern traffic. It's not something you want to take out on a rainy day! trust me on that!
Any test drive will be made with me in the car and i'll need to take a picture of your licence before hand.
I'll update the advert as i get time to any potential information i may of missed, that's if i have missed any!
Bank transfer on collection only. The V5 and car will not be released until the funds have cleared. The buyer is liable for collection of the car. This is a private sale and the car is sold in its present condition, without warranty or guarantee. The description is provided honestly and to the best of my knowledge, including known faults, but may not identify every fault or defect. Buyers are welcome to inspect the car, ask questions and arrange an independent inspection before purchase.
Any questions feel free to ask and viewing welcome most days/ times.
