THE LISTING

About this vehicle

Here we go again... The car has to go, or it'll get taken apart and sold as parts - which would be a shame as it's a weapon and a lot of fun waiting for someone. This time we're going with an auction with a relatively low starting price. Please don't bid if you have less than 10 feedback. At least not without messaging me first. No time wasters, we all had so much fun the last two times. The car has much history, I've owned it for 20 years, in that time it's been a road car, it's been a track car, it's been a competition drift car, it's been a drift car for fun. Barry Lee has even taken it around the rally stage at Brands Hatch. it's had a Pinto, it's had an all singing Pinto with a dry sump, it's had a Cosworth YB - which it still has. If you want to know the full history of it, it was well documented in Retro Ford Magazine, or I'm happy to run through it with you should you choose to come view it. As it sits now, it was most recently a drift tool and competent track weapon. It's been in storage since Retrostock in October 2016, but up until that point it was more than happy going very sideways at high speed or indeed doing a track day with sticky tyres. I pulled it out of storage earlier this year, stuck a new cam belt on it, fresh oil and filter (genuine Ford oil filter) a new fuel pump (044 equivalent as apparently these are no longer available) and it fired up. It still revs like a chainsaw thanks to the slightly higher compression and lightweight flywheel and is begging for a new owner to just get out there and have some fun in it. No Stage 3 and green injectors here, this YB performs like an Atmo on steroids. With the 6 speed gearbox, it's just an absolute weapon.
Brief spec from what I can remember: Engine:Cosworth YB, 205 block, big wing baffled 2wd sump, Turbosport bottom pulley, 2wd head, T38 turbo, Asnu 1000cc injectors, Vernier pulleys, Omex Management, & loom 3 bar map sensor, toothed alternator belt conversion, lightweight flywheel, 7 1/4" 3 plate clutch, braided fuel lines throughoutTransmission:Elite IL300 Six speed sequential gearbox, custom two-piece prop shaft, English axle, 3J Driveline NXG LSD, 3J Driveline 2-piece halfshafts Suspension:GAZ Gold front struts, Custom billet steel drift spec steering arms, modified quick rack, adjustable TCA's, modified Twin Cam anti-roll bar, modified double-width brackets, Corsa power steering, Eccentric top mounts, Gas adjustable rear shocks, Milton A-Frame, rear anti-roll bar, custom Nylon bushes throughout Brakes:Hi-Spec Billet 4 front calipers, floating 285mm front discs, bias pedal box, hydraulic drift-style handbrake, rear disc conversion, braided brake lines throughoutWheels:Compomotive TH wheels 7x13" front, 8x13" rearInterior:Safety Devices bolt in cage, big tunnel, big rev counter, Sparco bucket seats, 6 point harnesses, Peltor intercom system, alloy tank in boot, bespoke wiring loom, Sparco steering wheelExteriorCarbon fibre bonnet and bootlid, Carbon fibre bumpers
In terms of the car's overall condition - it's still on its original strut tops, floors and sill panels - great considering it's 50 years old and has spent 10 years of those having it's head kicked in. The arches have been somewhat stretched to accommodate the front suspension mods and the variety of rear wheels that we used to run. The rear tubs are scabby from the rubber slapping that they have taken in the past, but they aren't hanging. There is a small hole in the nearside inner wing by the bonnet hinge. This has appeared during storage. The car has had a history, so bares the scars of various modifications over the years. But importantly is really solid and largely original. It even has opening front quarter light windows - great for letting the smoke out.
It's tax and MOT exempt. Currently taxed and MOT'd... Not that I'd be brave enough to take it on the road. It runs, it drives but it has been in storage for 10 years. I've done the remedial stuff to get it up and running. What the buyer does with it from the point of purchase is up to them.
I think I've covered everything, but happy to chat it all over with genuine buyers.
If it reaches the reserve price, it will come with a replacement new (pattern) pair of front wings and front panel.
I don't want to sell it, but it's time for it to go. You're welcome to view it before you place a bid. Any questions, please just ask.
