1.8L GTI 8V Engine. With approximately 165K miles.
1986 C Reg & is now MOT exempt. Although the car does still have an MOT till 2nd February 2027.
I have owned this car for nearly 10 years & before we had children, was used on a daily basis & was actually used as my wedding car.
However the car has been off the road for approximately the last 7 years.
I have recently began restoring the car again & have had all the underneath of the car professionally restored including welding work, sections of the sills repaired &/or replaced, where needed. The Boot floor has also had welding work. All new brake lines & fuel hoses. New fuel accumulator, New Distributer. Brand New Headlights. New Cambelt & Waterpump & probably more that i have missed. It has also had a recent gearbox fitted.
In addition the car has the following features -• 14 Inch BBS Alloy Wheels• Ultra Rare & sought after. Sportline Front & Seats in very good condition.•Mohair Roof in full working order.•Rare Chrome Single Headlight grill.
The car does run & drive & actually passed an MOT 6 months ago. However it did have a warm start issue, which I had checked & was advised that this was likely caused by warn out old injectors. I had these changed recently with Brand new genuine Bosch injectors which has solved the warm start issue but the car has developed a slight misfire since. Likely to be either a timing issue or a faulty injector. Both a relatively easy fix, i just don't have the time to sort it anymore or enough space at home to keep it parked up.
There are still a couple of areas of rust on the body work that need addressing & was planning to have done. I have photos of these on the listing. The front bumper bar will also need repairing or ideally replacing.
A few other things to mention is that indicator stalk is intermittent, it needs the gear linkage adjusting, a new speedo drive & the rear boot lock has seized.
The car is over 40 years old so the bodywork isnt perfect but as you can see is still very presentable.
A very rare car & a relatively easy project for someone who has the time to do it.
As I said earlier the car does run. But I highly recommend the car is Recovered & NOT driven away. As it is not running 100%.
I have tried to be as honest as possible & mention as much as I can. Cash or Bank Transfer on collection. Sold as Seen. The car is currently stored at Grampound Road Near Truro. So will need to be collected from there.
