The Lotus Esprit was never a car to blend into the background, but by the mid-1980s it had evolved into something particularly special. With its Giorgetto Giugiaro-penned wedge still looking every inch the supercar, the Turbo Esprit HC brought a healthy dose of extra muscle to the formula, combining Lotus's lightweight philosophy with a potent turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

This 1987 example is an HC, or High Compression, model, benefiting from a revised engine designed to deliver more power and improved drivability.
