THE LISTING

About this vehicle

1988 BMW E30 , 3 SERIES, 316 BAUR CONVERTIBLE . 1800cc

Im the 4th owner of this rare Baur 1800cc , Zinnober Red 316, 5 speed manual , carburetor model, it has covered 120, 000 miles , which has mostly BMW main dealer stamps in the service book , the last one being at 117, 000 miles , there are additional receipts included in the history which cover any work that has been done between those mileages, the car went to a Quickfit MOT centre in May where it was issued with its currant MOT , and looking at the MOT history it shows that the car has only covered a couple of hundred miles a year , for many years , between the MOTs
This car has lead a cossetted life having been garaged with the previous owner for 25 years , and being SORNED for 6 months of the year ( the winter ones ) & it shows , it is something of a time warp , the car has the original paint that it left the factory with , quite a feat in itself as these red colours are notorious for fading over time in sunlight , it also has never been welded, the photographs will bear testament to this , i have included pics of all the usual areas that rot on E30s,

The car drives like a looked after 3 series , no nasty rattles from the engine , the gearbox goes through the gears with no whining or jumping out of gear, and the brakes are efficient stopping the car with no pulling to either side .

The bodywork is in great original condition , no hint of issues on the boot or bonnet lips , the  sills / valences/ wheel arch lips ( i have included a couple of pics of the bases of the doors , they are as bright and as rust free as when the car was new ) , & the underside is untouched , the wheels & tyres are in good order

The interior of the car is as it left the factory with no modifications , no cracks in the dashboard , the carpets are the original ones with very little wear, this is also the case with the BMW over mats , the seat material is still in lovely condition , with no disintegration along the top of the rear seat from sun damage , ditto the vinyl throughout the interior , doorcards / seat backs are undamaged , and the blaupunkt radio cassette player is in place and working fine, it also to my eyes it looks like the ash trays have never been used .

The hood material is in smart condition with no frosting of the rear window ,  the rubber seals are good and the cars interior is watertight . The tonneau cover for when the hood is down is also in very good condition , and there are 2 additional BMW canvas cover accessories which are housed in the boot box , one is a cover for the rear window to be used on frosty nights , the other one im really not sure of its purpose, but its very well made !! .

The engine bay is in smart , used condition with a patination of being used , but not abused , the chassis rails are still showing there original red paint.

The whole boot area is in lovely original condition , with both the wells that contain the boot box on one side and the jack on the other , showing there original paint which is like new under the carpet that covers them ,The tool tray is in good condition and completer

I have tried to tell it the way it is , and dont like to waste my or a possible buyers time , so to that end there are a couple of small  jobs  that needs sorting out ,that  being , I think the aerial should retract when you turn the radio off , which it doesnt .& there has been a tidy repair on the drivers seat bolster but the 8 inches of plastic beading that runs along the edge  has not been added , a bit of black beading and  a stout needle and some thread would have that attached and sorted out . Not life changing but would rather let it be known.
Jobs done in last couple of  months / oil & filter change, G/ Box oil checked & topped up , new brake pads fitted

So to recap , I think it would be hard to find a better unrestored example of one of these rare Baur models, and would be easy to forget when looking at this car or  the pics that this car has never been messed with , which i personally find reassuring that a new shiny coat of paint isnt hiding nasty surprise
There only original once , and this car is very original .
The above is my opinion of the car , but im no expert , so i would strongly recommend coming and having a look , to make up your own mind.

She is a nearly 40 year old car , so to cover myself she is sold with no guarantees implied or given, but with the reassurance to a prospective buyer that she carries a currant MOT.
I think i have covered most things , but if theres anything ive forgotten message me, happy to answer any questions .
I only go on-line once a day so bear with me on getting back to you.
The car is advertised elsewhere, so this listing could be removed if sold through another avenue  .
I have also  listed the car on "car & classic" website which allows 100 pics , so , many more than on here , so if you want to see more pics  have a look on there
