THE LISTING

About this vehicle

The Hank Moody Porsche.

Few cars have quite the same understated cool as a black 964 Cabriolet. Made famous by David Duchovny’s character Hank Moody in Californication, this is arguably one of the best-looking specifications of Porsche’s air-cooled 911.

This 1992 Carrera 4 is a UK right-hand-drive example, finished in black over black with the desirable 5-speed manual gearbox and 3.6-litre air-cooled flat-six.

It has covered 91,000 miles and comes with an extensive history file. The interior was professionally re-trimmed by renowned Porsche trimmers Southbound in 2017 at a cost of approximately £6,500 and still presents beautifully.

The car has also benefited from considerable maintenance and improvement in recent years, including:

* £6,500 Southbound black interior re-trim

* Refurbished alloy wheels

* Four Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tyres

* Paint correction

* New exterior trim

* New rear lights and reflector

* Re-trimmed interior roof lining

* Clear indicator lenses

* Eibach lowering springs, with the original parts retained

* Major service by a Porsche specialist in July 2022

* Further specialist services in April 2024 and April 2026

* MOT until July 2027

The previous keeper owned the car from October 2021, with the owner before that retaining it from 1999, giving it reassuring long-term provenance.

The 964 occupies a particularly special point in 911 history, retaining the compact proportions, air-cooled character and classic silhouette of the earlier cars while introducing a more modern driving experience. In black, sitting slightly lower on its original-style wheels, the Cabriolet has enormous presence.

A properly usable air-cooled 911 in an iconic specification.

Six former keepers. Extensive history.

Available for viewing and collection from Temple Guiting in the Cotswolds. Part exchange considered for something interesting.
