OVERVIEW

Offered for sale is this fully restored 1993 Rover Mini Mayfair 1275, finished in classic red and powered by the traditional carburettor-fed 1275cc A-Series engine with a four-speed manual gearbox.

This is one of the final carburettor-era Mayfair models produced before the Mayfair changed to fuel injection in 1994.

The car was stored off the road for approximately 12 years before receiving an extensive body, paint, underside, mechanical and interior restoration. The restoration is believed to have been completed around 2022 and is supported by a comprehensive collection of photographs showing the work at its various stages.

This was not simply a cosmetic repaint. The photographic record shows the stripped shell, replacement panels, structural repairs, priming, paint-booth stages, underside work, engine-out mechanical work, interior refurbishment and final reassembly.

The bodyshell was extensively repaired and restored using numerous new and Heritage panels.

PAINTWORK AND CORROSION PROTECTION

After completing the metalwork, the shell was epoxy-primed and filler-primed before being refinished in water-based red paint and completed with a hard-wearing 2K lacquer finish.

The underside was coated with tintable Raptor protective coating. The enclosed box sections were also treated with Waxoyl to provide additional protection against future corrosion.

The restoration photographs clearly document the preparation and painting process.

The mechanical components were given extensive attention during the restoration. Numerous service, ignition, cooling, braking, steering, suspension and clutch components were renewed.

Many of the retained mechanical components were cleaned and refinished in black epoxy during reassembly.

EXTERIOR EQUIPMENT

The car sits on Minilight-style alloy wheels with matching tyres and locking wheel nuts.

Additional exterior items renewed during the restoration include the bumpers, rear-light lenses and various rubber and finishing components.

INTERIOR

The interior is in very good condition and was also attended to during the restoration.

The seats and trim have no significant rips or tears. New front and rear door cards were made, along with replacement companion-bin closing panels. The headlining also presents well.

The original radio remains fitted and working, with a replacement aerial and speakers.

The heated rear window has not been tested, although the corresponding dashboard light illuminates.

HISTORY FILE

One of the car’s strongest features is its unusually comprehensive history file.

The paperwork dates back to 1994 and contains:

A vehicle-history report dated December 2025 showed no recorded theft, insurance write-off or outstanding-finance markers.
