THE LISTING
About this vehicle
**Relisted at a lower starting price as the car needs to find a new home before our forthcoming house move**1994 Rover Mini 35 in Nivada Red – 1293cc Fast Road Specification – Recommissioning Project
Sadly selling my 1994 Rover Mini 35 due to an impending house move, as I will no longer have garage space to keep it.
The Mini has covered approximately 104,000 miles, although the engine was fully rebuilt approximately 12 years ago and has covered only around 5,000 miles since the rebuild.
It has been dry stored in my garage for approximately 10 years and is being sold as a recommissioning project. A considerable amount of money and work has gone into the car over the years, particularly the engine, drivetrain and interior.
ENGINE & MECHANICAL
The original 1275cc A-Series engine was rebuilt and bored to 1293cc, with a good fast-road specification including:
- 1293cc rebuilt A-Series engine- New pistons at time of rebuild- Kent 266 mild-road camshaft- Stage 3 cylinder head- HIF44 carburettor- Twin timing chain- Megajolt programmable electronic ignition, replacing the conventional distributor/coil ignition- Stainless steel Fletcher exhaust
CUSTOM INTERIOR
The Mini also has a very distinctive custom black leather interior.
The front seats are from a Ford KA, with Alfa Romeo GTV rear seats, together with a custom dashboard featuring additional instrumentation including:
- Rev counter- Oil-pressure gauge- Voltmeter- Vacuum/economy gauge
It makes for a rather different interior from a standard Mini while retaining plenty of classic Mini character.
CURRENT CONDITION
The car has been dry stored for around 10 years and does not have a current MOT. It should therefore be regarded as a vehicle requiring recommissioning before being returned to the road.
Importantly, the Mini was running only a few weeks ago. However, when I tried it again while preparing the car for sale, it unfortunately wouldn't fire. The engine turns over normally on the starter motor but is currently not starting.
I haven't investigated the cause, so rather than speculate or suggest that it is an easy fix, I am selling the car honestly on the basis that it is currently a non-runner.
Given the length of time it has been off the road, I would expect the new owner to go through the car properly before returning it to regular use.
Cosmetically I consider it to be in good overall condition for a 32-year-old Mini.
There is some minor bubbling to areas of the paintwork, together with scratches and a few very minor dents to the front wings. I have deliberately tried to show these areas in the photographs rather than hide them.
I cannot see any major areas of rust or corrosion, although this is obviously my own observation rather than a professional assessment. Potential buyers are very welcome to inspect the Mini before bidding and satisfy themselves regarding the condition of the bodywork, underside and mechanical components.
Please study the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
WHY AM I SELLING IT?
Quite simply, we are moving house and I will no longer have a garage in which to keep the Mini.
After keeping it dry and protected for so long, I'd much rather it went to another Mini enthusiast who can recommission it and get it back onto the road than leave it sitting around without suitable storage.
PLEASE NOTE
This is a modified 32-year-old classic car that has been off the road for approximately 10 years. It is sold without an MOT, is currently not starting despite turning over on the starter, and will require recommissioning.
I am not describing the car as MOT-ready and make no guarantee as to what work will be required before it can safely return to the road.
Viewing before bidding is welcomed and encouraged.
Because the vehicle currently has no MOT and is not running, the successful bidder will need to arrange collection by trailer or suitable vehicle transporter.
Please feel free to contact me with any sensible questions and I will answer them as honestly as I can.
