1996 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV GSR –
Completely Original and UnmodifiedA genuinely exceptional survivor and, as far as I have been able to establish, possibly the only completely original and unmodified Evo IV remaining in the UK.
The car retains its original engine, drivetrain, bodywork, interior, wheels, factory equipment and stereo. It remains in its original paint and has never been crashed or welded.
Mileage is 102,000 kilometres, approximately 63,380 miles. I have owned the car for around 16 years, having bought it with approximately 86,000 kilometres recorded. During my ownership, it has covered only around 16,000 kilometres, or just under 10,000 miles.
The car has never been driven in the wet during my ownership. It only comes out for approximately three or four months during the summer and spends the winter protected inside an Airchamber.The only time it gets wet is when it is washed and, because of the way it is stored and how little it is used, it very rarely gets dirty.
When I bought the car 16 years ago, I removed all the suspension components and thoroughly protected the complete underside, chassis, cavities and wheel arches. This was done properly using high-quality DINITROL products, including underseal, chassis wax and cavity wax, purely as a preventative measure to preserve the car.
Importantly, this treatment was applied 16 years ago and has never needed to be touched since. It is not a recently applied layer of underseal intended to disguise rust or corrosion, as can sometimes be found on cars being prepared for sale. Underneath the original DINITROL protection, the condition of the car is every bit as exceptional as the exterior.
It comes with a large folder of receipts and paperwork, including the original Japanese import documents and records of everything I have spent on it.2 keys , 2 key fobs , Full V5 in my name
Over the years, I have replaced various components to keep the car in the best possible condition. This includes front wishbones, ball joints, inner and outer track-rod ends, drop links, shock absorbers, top mounts and driveshafts. New brake discs and pads were also fitted, although these parts are now a few years old they are still in great condition.
These parts were not simply replaced because the car had been neglected or allowed to wear out. Much of the work was carried out because I wanted the car properly sorted and maintained to the best standard possible.
It drives absolutely beautifully and is a remarkably original example of an increasingly difficult car to find in factory-standard condition.
The cambelt was replaced approximately six years ago, so it is now due to be changed again (just based on age not mileage)If the car sells for the full asking price, I will have the cambelt replaced by a Mitsubishi main dealer before the new owner collects it.Any inspection is very welcome. I have a two-post ramp available, so the car can be raised for any prospective buyer who wants to thoroughly inspect the underside before purchasing.This is not a modified, restored or returned-to-standard example. It is a genuine, long-term-owned factory-standard Evo IV that has survived without being altered.Serious enquiries only, please.
